SUNNYRBOOK’S YOUTH SAFETY LAB

Welcome to the Youth Safety Lab! A one-day program designed to explore personal and community safety.

The morning’s focus will be on primary prevention strategies provided by the updated P.A.R.T.Y. (Prevent Alcohol & Risk-Related Trauma in Youth) Program Through the integration of harm-reduction principles, students will gain valuable knowledge and tools to manage risk and make informed decisions in order to avoid traumatic injury. Students will learn first-hand from people living long-term with injury, from front line health care professionals and first responders.

The afternoon will focus on secondary prevention strategies including certification in STOP THE BLEED®. This course will enable students to develop confidence and competence in tangible life-saving skills to address critical bleeding incidents. Students will learn how to identify bleeding, and control it with compression, wound packing and tourniquet application.
