Our history

Intentional and unintentional injuries are the leading cause of death for people aged one to forty-four years of age. Most of the injuries are both predictable and preventable.

Sunnybrook’s Centre for Injury Prevention was established in 1986 within Sunnybrook’s Trauma, Emergency and Critical Care department.  The office aims to prevent traumatic injuries and injury related mortality across all ages through community education, collaboration and awareness. We empower generations to take better care of themselves and those around them. It comes down to making better choices about the risks we take.

This centre delivers multiple programs and resources both independently as well as with an extensive team of collaborators.
